This Historical give to us some advantages, like this :
1. I absolutely LOVED this book! (4 3/4 stars)
I LOVED THIS STORY. I thought that Gareth was unbearably adorable..so he was a little immature at times, but he was only 23 and I for one, was thoroughly charmed by him. I adored watching him with Juliet and especially his interactions with little Charlotte. I thought that Juliet was his perfect match , though Ill admit that at first it worried me that she had been involved with his brother, but my fears were soon laid to rest as I watched their love grow. My only quibble with this book was that sometimes I felt like other aspects of the plot overshadowed the romance, but for the most part..I LOVED THIS.. A definite keeper..I cannot wait to move onto the next in the series!
2. Very weak storyline
I absolutely hate giving negative reviews, but I would have appreciated reading some before I took the time to read this book. I honestly didn't think I could finish it, but plowed through it by skimming over a good deal in hopes that it would improve... It didn't.
First off was the quality of the writing. I was surprised to find this had actually been a print release, which ostensibly means an editor read it and line and copy editors proofed it. I was quite disappointed in the overall quality of the writing, not to mention the syntax, grammar, sentence structure and basic English errors. This nearly kept me from continuing to read.
The worst part of this book, however, is the horrific storyline. I wonder if Ms. Harmon researched her time period, customs, social dictates, etc. as from the beginning she had me rolling my eyes at her lack of knowledge of the social mores of those times, not to mention her total disregard for believability in a scene...

Loved it, loved it, LOVED IT!!!!!
This book was a refreshing and welcome change from the romance novels that I've read lately. I couldn't put it down. The hero, Lord Gareth de Montforte, is everything that a hero should be and more: he's strong, he's sexy, he's charming, he's courageous, he loves kids, and he goes to heroic lengths to make a future for his wife and infant daughter, risking his life in the process and winning my heart as well! If you like fast-paced, sexy stories, unique characters, an unusual plot, and books set in England, you'll LOVE this book. I did!!!!
